“Mom, who’s your favorite?” at nautilus teachings

“mom,
who’s your favorite?”
is always said
with a smile
by every child
on this planet
that has siblings…

usually it is
because they are
in some teensy kind
of trouble
and they
want to make sure
YOU know
THEY
are
YOUR
favorite…

does every mom
have one?

i’m not revealing that secret
and i don’t think
any other mom i know
would either…

this little
brown haired beauty
was
his favorite
and
everyone knew it,
including
the
other kids…
in his eyes
she could do
no wrong
and he
doted on her
hand and foot
drove her to all her
practices
told her family stories
and when she
was with his family
she
was
the
chosen
one…

the sun rose in her eyes
it set within her big smile
and the moon,
well she hung it!
oh, sure
as she grew
they did have
differences
but she was always
daddy’s little girl…

and oh, how the girl
loved the man
until
over a series
of very unfortunate years
he turned
against
not just her
and the family
but
himself…

one day
he
was
gone
and so the girl grew up
with a hole inside her heart,
an aching,
she tried to fill
by dating
boys exactly like him
who were
verbally abusive
controlling
and hurting her
over and over
yet she always
forgave
always stayed
because this
is what she
taught the girl,
real love
was pain
and suffering…

after many years
of dating mean
guys
after she had left
had gone back to
left
returned again
only to repeat
this process one more
time
always landing at
‘she’s’ home
they had it out…

one last horrible
ugly name calling
fight
with it ending in
the girl
hearing
from ‘she’s’ lips,
‘you are dead to me.
i hate you.
you are never welcome
here again…’

the girl moved far away
from she
and near him
and his kin…
the girl was still the golden child
the one most liked
by everyone
so life began a new rhythm
a new pattern
only he was the same
and they were replicas
of him…

but the girl healed
and grew…
as a matter a fact,
she blossomed
into her own grown self
and found a love
who was kind
welcoming
hardworking
loving
sweet
and
who
loved
every ounce
of her…
she
was
her loves
golden
thread
the one that
bound
two souls
together
they were so
caught up
in new love
acceptance
and silly adventures
and living a small life
together
that
when
the girl told
the family about her love
they
turned
against
her…

day after day
for weeks on end
they made
the girls life
miserable
and she began
hurting
deeper than ever before…

but her love
was kind
and soft spoken
whenever they
would yell at the girl
her love
stepped between them
and calmly said,
‘that’s enough’
then he would take the girl
into his arms
and carry her away to safety…

families can be mean
and in a horrible twist of fate
they can
and
will
turn against
the favorite
chosen
can do no wrong
child
when
they pick
someone
unlike them
unwilling to yell back
or criticize
maybe have different
values
or believes
or
backgrounds
someone
who only
was raised
in love
with love
through love
to give love back
unconditionally
to the one they find
who connects to their soul
as a partner
in life…

the next time
you hear
“mom,
who’s your favorite?”
smile
hug them
and whisper in their ear
every
one
of you
no
matter what…

this is what parents do
we love
regardless of
our children’s life
decisions
disappointment
direction
accomplishment
and failure…

we
love

there are
no boundaries
it’s unconditional
forever
and forgiving…

this grown up
little girl
is beautiful
inside and out
she does not deserve
to be harassed
yelled at
and made to feel
unwanted
because
she
is
human…

‘she’
always loves
the little/grown girl
‘she’
prays daily
for the girls protection
happiness
and safety
‘she’
knows
the little/grown girl
knows
that
she
is loved
and that the ugly
words
between them
so long ago
were forgotten
forgiven
and healed
by one simple
free act

LOVE
