keep blooming at nautilus teachings

starting over
rebirth
beginning again
change
reinvent

how many times
in our lives
do we do this

some people
grow up
get married
and they are set
for life

others flounder
and struggle
their entire
duration on this earth

and then,
there are those
who
never
give up…
when something stops
ends
fails
ceases to be needed
or are in just need
of a boost
and new path
they
have no fear
of divorcing
moving
quitting a job
going back to school
trying something new
they just have
this incredible spirit
that refuses
to be caged…

but,
what if the new direction
was not planned
wanted
and just
one day,
BAM
life changed…

what if you woke up
your body was numb
your brain was all mushy
your vision
blurred
and the inside
of you was crying
weeping
begging you to
move on…

life happens
this way to
most of us
we never plan
on the bad things
happening
like
death
divorce
loss of job
we think
we can handle
empty nest
or early retirement
but we end up
floundering
without a true north
sign
of what we are to do…

and,
let’s face it
today
it’s not easy
to just reinvent
your life
competition is fierce
knowing how to get
the attention
of people can be tough
as newspapers
are rarely read
advertising
has to be on
social media
and you need to know
what is currently
trending
what market you
want to specifically reach
and if you are
unable to do this yourself
you need to be prepared
to pay someone
who is in the know…

i have always found it fascinating
to learn something new
i may not be a fast learner
but i am always willing to try.
i learned in my first
business
way back in 1985
to pick the one thing
you hate or
absolutely cannot do
for your business
and hire that out.
when you look at it that way
it is not
so overwhelming
but it still can be
daunting
quite challenging
and appear to be
unattainable

don’t let it be

i have reinvented
and started over
at least 10 times
in my 35 years as
an adult over 20

each time was never
ever easy
it was painful
i cried a ton
i lost friends
family members
and forever searched
for
what
was
my
center

all my businesses
were art related in
some way
i did voice overs
designed and painted
wooden signs for business
hand painted unique
t-shirts and sweatshirts
for small boutiques
did the art circuit for years
taught art
had a home day care/pre school
owned a book store/art store
worked for a pool company
and mosaiced pools/bars…
but
above everything
i have ever done
Bali Studios
has been
my one true love
and right now
the mojo is there
but i need the vibe
to return
the kids and women
the laughter
and creativity
and the
reworking
the acknowledgement
of change
the undoing
reinventing
is exciting
and scary
and fun
but at 55
it is
exhausting…

here i sit
alone
on my balance ball
on a chilly sunday
i am all alone
boys at my feet
sun is shining
and all i can think of
is how blessed
i feel…

my life,
regardless of they yuk
has always mended itself
i have always grown
and i see this time
as a slower
awakening,
one i want you to be
a part of…

“patience and faith is what the sea teaches”

is one of my all time
favorite quotes.
i hope you keep watching me
checking back to see
what i am up to
sign your kids up
for my crazy summer
surfin’ usa kids camp 2018
book a party
come to an open studio
join me in bookmaking
writing
anything
just expand
your creative side
and show the world
who you really are,
all your colors and beauty…

connection
2018
i am looking for
connection
with you all
who have supported me
for so long…
tell me what you want to learn
or may what you want to teach
in my studio
what you want to celebrate…

i am not leaving
you
cocoa beach
or Bali Studios
i
am
blooming…
